LGAA fosters, maintains and sustains community leadership through programming, support and networking for LG graduates and through community partnerships.

This Web site is meant to connect and activate the more than 900 distinguished business and community leaders who are gradutes of the Leadership Gainesville program.

VISION 
The Leadership Gainesville Alumni Association aims to build a better community for everyone in the Gainesville and Alachua County by imparting to our members what makes Gainesville unique and by inspiring them to take on and exercise real leadership committed to serving the common good.

CORE VALUES
  • Appreciation and respect for the diversity of the Gainesville/Alchua County community. Commitment to seeking common ground and pursuing common goals.
  • Commitment to seeking inclusion of all perspectives in community debate and decision making.
  • Affirmation that creating and maintaining community is a responsibility of every individual.
  • Openness and willingness to share, learn and seek solutions.
  • Recognition of the mutual interdependence of all communities in the Alachua County.
  • Recognition that involvement by and collaboration among the business, government, nonprofit, and religious sectors are essential to the welfare of our community.
  • These core values reflect not only the beliefs intrinsic to LGAA, but are intended to model values we believe to be essential to the success and welfare of the entire community.

OBJECTIVES
To be an organization of excellence that builds and serves leadership in Gainesville/Alachua County by:
  • Providing opportunities to establish personal relationships built on mutual trust and respect among leaders from diverse constituencies.
  • Providing information and insights into the major issues, problems and opportunities facing the Gainesville/Alachua County area.
  • Providing forums for candid and honest discussion of important issues; for hearing different perspectives and opinions; and for learning from each other.
  • Transmitting to new generations of leaders the legacy of core values traditionally that have been central to Gainesville's success.
  • Enabling the creation of new ideas and initiatives to address Gainesville's major challenges.
  • Linking its members to new and existing initiatives that address important community needs.

RICH TRADITION
LGAA originated in 1965. Some of the members from LG Class I still reside in Alachua County and contitnue to be influential members of our community.

We are currently working on a comprehensive history of our organization and will send a message to our membership to annoce the completion of this segment of the Web site.
